If you want your wedding to stand out in your guests minds as “extra special”, you’ll need to get a little bit creative. You can always have the traditional flowers as centerpieces but for something different, try and include other elements as well. Remember though, that your wedding decoration ideas should tie in to your overall theme.
It is a good idea to continue the theme of your decorations from your ceremony to your reception.
For most people, a beautifully decorated reception is what really makes a wedding special; your guests will remember the way the room made them feel when they first walked into it, so when thinking about wedding decorating ideas, special care on the smaller details can mean a lot. Here are some ideas for you to add a little bit extra at your reception.
Firstly, make sure you check exactly what your reception centre provides in their price.
Most reception centres will include a plain white table cloth and plain white chair covers. They usually charge more to add a coloured or lace or sheer table cloth or table runner and a chair sash. These are great and will add much needed depth and elegance to your tables.
You can rent these from your reception center or you may be able to find them cheaper yourself if you make them, or buy them online. My reception centre charged $8 per table cloth and $2 per chair sash which doesn’t sound like much but adds up when you have 136 guests and 12 tables. Inst
ead, I bought some from an online ebay store for less than $1 each. I organised with the reception centre to drop them off a few days before and they laid them out for me at no extra cost! You’ll be surprised what you can get from your reception centre if only you ask.
Candles are a must for your tables as well, they are romantic & offer the perfect level of illumination, plain coloured candles are best as they are classic, be careful of trying to colour co-ordinate your whole wedding to your bridesmaids, sometimes this ends up looking like a sweet 16 birthday party instead of an elegant wedding celebration.
With the candles, make sure they will not melt wax over everything on the table and ruin all your hard work, (if a fan or air conditioning vent points directly at the table use candles inside a vase so they do not go out all night) also, make sure they burn for at least 5 hours and are either very low height or on a candelabra and not at eye level so people on either sides of the table can still see each other.
Table names are also a nice touch. Most wedding reception centres will provide you with standard numbers on each table, i find it much more interesting to name your tables instead. Think of something that will tie into your theme or just something fun, you could use romantic movie titles, Romantic cities you have visited together (you could include a picture as well), or just loving words like commitment, love, friendship etc.
These are just a few things to give you Wedding Decoration Ideas and to make your wedding day just a little bit extra special. Remember to try and think of some kind of general theme of that day, this will help you to narrow down your ideas, i know half my problems were having too many ideas for my wedding day! This can just be a colour, your favourite city, a movie you once saw or it could all start with a piece of pretty paper or fabric pattern. like this Cristina Re paper was my inspiration
